If you’re a hiking enthusiast, consider embarking on a journey to the summit of Santa Ana Volcano, the tallest peak in El Salvador, standing at an impressive elevation of 2,381 meters above sea level.

 

This majestic colossus is part of the Los Volcanoes Complex within the Apaneca mountain range. The ascent is relatively straightforward, and once you reach the top, you’ll be rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views overlooking Coatepeque Lake and its 1.5-kilometer-wide crater, which houses an enchanting emerald, green lagoon.

 

As you ascend Santa Ana Volcano, you’ll traverse three distinct forest types. The hike commences in a cloud forest, where you can find respite in the shade of lush vegetation. The trail then leads through an area with more modest plant life, including shrubs and agaves, until the latter half. Finally, as you reach the eroded terrain with sparse vegetation, you’ll be treated to a splendid view of the Salvadoran landscape.

Itinerary:

1. 6:45Am – 8:45Am Trip to Cerro Verde (Santa Ana Volcano is closed after 10AM).

2. 8:45Am – 1:30Pm Hiking to the Santa Ana Volcano crater.

3. 1:30Pm – 2:15Pm Trip to Coatepeque Lake.

4. 2:15Pm – 3:45Pm Lunch at Coatepeque Lake.

5. 3:45Pm – 5:15Pm Trip to San Salvador

6. 5.15Pm Tour ends.

We can pickup you at any place of your preference in the next cities:

San Salvador, Santa Tecla, Nuevo Cuscatlán, Antiguo Cuscatlán, San Marcos, San Jacinto, Santo Tomas, Soyapango, Ciudad Delgado, Mejicanos, Ayutuxtepeque, Quezaltepeque, Nejapa, Apopa.

Pick up at the airport or beaches of La Libertad will be $25 extra.

You can cancel this tour for free up to 24 hours before the tour.

 

Recommendations:

For this tour, we recommend comfort clothes which give you some protection against the Sun, sunscreen, hiking shoes, sunglasses, hat or cap, and a rain jacket if you come to El Salvador between April and November.
